Summer Welcome
Building community from the very beginning.
Summer Welcome is designed to help new families and supporters feel informed, connected and ready for the transition to ÎÞÓÇÊÓƵ. Through virtual sessions and regional gatherings, families can learn more about the student experience, hear from campus partners and current parents, and begin building connections with the Mudd community before the academic year begins.

Whether you join us online or in person, Summer Welcome offers an early opportunity to ask questions, understand what to expect and feel more confident as your student prepares for the start of their Harvey Mudd journey.
Virtual Summer Welcome Series
Our Summer Welcome Series features virtual sessions created to help new-to-Mudd families better understand the Harvey Mudd student experience and prepare for the fall semester. Sessions are led by campus partners and may include current families who can share their perspective and answer questions.
Sessions for Summer 2026 will be posted in June.
Topics may include:
- preparing for the transition to Harvey Mudd
- academics and the Core curriculum
- the Division of Student Affairs and student support services
- health, wellbeing and wellness resources
- support for international students and families
When available, recordings will be posted for families who are unable to attend live.
Regional Summer Welcome Receptions
Incoming first-year families and families of transfer students are invited to attend regional Summer Welcome events hosted by current and past HMC parents. These gatherings offer a chance to meet other families, learn more about the Mudd experience and build connections before arriving on campus.
2026 Summer Welcome Receptions
For families unable to attend in person, a Virtual Summer Welcome Hangout will also be offered.
