Muon Veto System for a Reactor-Monitoring Anti-neutrino Detector

Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory
2006鈥07

The Clinic team designed, constructed, and tested a new muon veto system for LLNL鈥榮 second generation cubic meter scale antineutrino detector for use in reactor monitoring applications.卢鈥 To maximize the efficiency and effectiveness of this veto system the team conducted tests to characterize the spatial response of different types of muon veto paddles.

The team also conducted simulations to verify and extend our experimental data.卢鈥 The team designed and implemented a framing system to hold the muon veto paddles in a robust and gap-free arrangement around the anti-neutrino detector.
