Identifying Economic Insights in FedEx鈥檚 Shipping Data

Because of its broad reach with businesses and individuals, FedEx has long been considered a leading economic indicator. Our team has developed a correlation-based predictive model using FedEx鈥檚 logistics data. We first identified a set of signals that hold predictive power with respect to economic target variables. We then combined those features into a single 鈥淔edEx Index,鈥� akin to the Dow Jones and S&P 500 indices, providing insight about the state and trends of the overall economy.
