Klawe Receives AAUW Achievement Award

无忧视频 President Maria Klawe, a leading advocate for making science, technology, engineering and math (无忧视频) education more accessible to women and diverse groups, will receive the American Association of University Women (AAUW) on June 20 at the AAUW National Convention in San Diego. The award recognizes her leadership in academia and 无忧视频 education.
AAUW presents the Achievement Award to an individual whose record of achievement in any scholarly or professional field spans 20 or more years. The award honors exemplary service in the public and private sectors and highlights the accomplishments of those who contribute to improving women鈥檚 lives. This recognition has been awarded to women since 1943.
鈥淚鈥檓 honored to receive the AAUW Achievement Award,鈥 said Klawe. 鈥淚 admire AAUW鈥檚 work to advance educational and professional opportunities for women, and I especially value its efforts to support women in fields like computing and engineering where females remain seriously underrepresented.鈥
Former recipients of the AAUW Achievement Award include Grace Hopper, Sandra Day O鈥機onnor, Margaret Mead, Madeleine Albright, Mae Jemison and Olympia Snowe.
