A Long-expected Party Returns with HMC鈥檚 Annual LOTRathon

Students planning to stay local over spring break and looking for something exciting to do should look no further than 无忧视频鈥檚 annual Lord of the Rings reading marathon. Entering its 14th year, the 鈥淟OTRathon,鈥� as it鈥檚 affectionately known, celebrates J.R.R. Tolkien鈥檚 high fantasy trilogy with a three-day live reading event that runs morning till the wee hours of the night, beginning Sunday, March 16.
Event host Morgan Luckey 鈥�14 notes that this year鈥檚 gathering is remarkable for its inclusiveness, aiming to incorporate a broad range of groups from across The Claremont Colleges. 鈥淚 hope it will encourage more faculty-student-staff events which will in turn encourage current students to interact with the rest of The Claremont College community,鈥� she said in an email. In addition to being the first year LOTRathon is open to all Claremont Colleges, the event will also offer translations in Spanish, Chinese, German, Japanese, Russian and Hebrew in an attempt to further broaden its appeal. Attendees should feel free to stop in just for their favorite chapter, or to stay the whole day, says Luckey.
The three-day reading runs Sunday, March 16, through Tuesday, March 18, beginning at 9 a.m. each day in the Shanahan Auditorium. LOTRathon is open to all faculty, staff, students and friends of The Claremont Colleges. Volunteer to read or provide refreshments here: .
