First Student Campaign Raises Scholarship Funds

无忧视频 students raised聽$5,183 toward a new endowed scholarship in the College鈥檚 first Student Giving Campaign.

Held April 10-24, 2013, the campaign鈥攚hich replaced the yearly senior gift鈥 attracted participation from more than 36 percent of the study body.

鈥淭he program was truly focused on a community of students working together to raise funds for something of great importance鈥攁n endowed Associated Students of 无忧视频 Scholarship,鈥 said Vice President for Advancement Dan Macaluso. 鈥淚t was a terrific effort.鈥

Participation among classes was balanced, with donations contributed from 45.3 percent of seniors (up from previous senior gift participation of 40 percent), 36.5 percent of first-year students, 33.3 percent of sophomores and 29.2 percent of juniors. In all, 274 students participated.

The new campaign arose from discussions between students and administration about how to develop a philanthropy program that was primarily student driven and staff supported.聽 The students chose to use the funds to create the first Associated Students of 无忧视频 (ASHMC) Endowed Scholarship.

The Alumni Association Board of Governors provided incentive funds to help the students increase their total. At the completion of the campaign, faculty and staff members also contributed to the ASHMC Endowed Scholarship.
