Timeline for Alumni Interviews<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

  1. Early-September:<\/strong> Call for volunteers<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  2. Mid-September:<\/strong> (soft) deadline for Alumni Interviewer sign-ups<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  3. Late-September:<\/strong> We start matching students with interviewers<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  4. October 15:<\/strong> We stop accepting requests for students applying Early Decision I<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  5. Late-September to mid-December:<\/strong> Alumni interview students<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  6. November 15:<\/strong> We stop accepting interview requests for the cycle<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  7. December 1:<\/strong> Alumni submit all written evaluations for Early Decision I interviews<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  8. January 10:<\/strong> Alumni submit all written evaluations for the cycle<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  9. April:<\/strong> We let you know about the students you interviewed that were offered admission<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n

    For Fall 2025<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

    How this works<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

    1. Since all interviews will be conducted online, we will try to match by time zone (same or adjacent) and academic interests.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
    2. As much as possible, we will try to match you for at least 1 interview in a cycle. This should be very doable since all interviews are online.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
    3. You will receive an email if\/when you are matched for an interview. You may receive matches one at a time or in pairs (rarely triples). It is entirely possible you may receive none at all.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
    4. After you are matched, you must wait for the student to contact you (within 7 days). We do not provide the student’s contact information.<\/strong> We want students to take responsibility in this process and instruct them accordingly. Once you hear from them, try to respond within 2-3 days, even if just to say you need an extra day or two to respond.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
    5. You will set the date (try for within 2 weeks of contact), and time for the interview. This is rare, but if you find a student is unaccommodating to your suggested availability, please let us know: admission@hmc.edu<\/a><\/li>\n\n\n\n
    6. Work with the student to agree on a platform for the online interview. We recommend Zoom, but you are welcome to use others. We previously recommended Skype, Apple FaceTime, Google Meet, Teams, etc.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
    7. Expect the interview to last 20-30 minutes and be sure to include time to answer questions. Then complete your write-up as soon as possible! See the Interviewing Tips<\/a> page for additional information on the interview and your write-up.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
    8. If you’re open to it, we encourage you to maintain the connection; you can let them email you for additional questions about HMC. We will let you know if they are offered admission so you may congratulate those admitted.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n

      2. We try to evenly distribute interview matches.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
      3. We will stop matching you once we’ve matched you with the number of interviews you offered, even if say, you never hear from your first match.
